Doctors make good points for acupuncture
by Ed.Hogan

They are two of the most dedicated disciples and practitioners of acupuncture. If this ancient healing art ever reaches the prestigious stature of Western conventional medicine, then these two Rockville, Md. doctors of Asian medicine deserve the credit. They are a skilled man-wife team. Their names are Dr. Yeh Chong Chan and Dr. Rong Shiaung Yu. They operate the Acupuncture Clinic of Maryland.
They have taken the battle for official recognition to the city of Washington and to Congress. This past January; Dr. Chan's laudable professional and culture services during a 36-year career were cited by the International Society of Scholars and the American Academy for Humanity and Scholarships.
He was named by those organizations as their Outstanding International Traditional Medicine Scholar of the Year, 1997-1998. The award was presented to Dr. Chan at a ceremony in the Singapore Embassy in Washington, D.C. Last November, 1997, NBC-TV interviewed Dr. Chan on "clinical practice" for 2 1/2 hours, covering all details relating to acupuncture in the nation. The cameras also focused on his giving an acupuncture treatment. The segment, combined with the National Institutes of Health acupuncture convention, made for a very impressive program. his wife, Dr. Yu, observed.
Especially pound were the doctors' two children, Catur and Calei. The family lives in Potomac, Md. Celebrities dot Dr. Chan's appointment calendar over the past three decades. He has treated two governors, Nobel Prize winner Tolstoy's granddaughter, and many stars in the field of sports. He has returned many injured golfers back to the links. Several testimonial letters from noted figures in the political world line the walls of his Rockville offices.
We are looking forward to Dr. Chan's book which I helped edit, coming out this month. Its title is "Dr. Chan's Cancer Healing." It narrates his incredible recovery from cancer after several Washington-area physicians gave up on him and gave him only three months to live.
After a regimen of self-healing acupuncture, special diets, vitamins, herbs and other Asian procedures, he was completely free of the dread disease in a year.
That was more than 10 years ago.
